Custom Apparel Turnaround Times: How to Order Fast Without Sacrificing Quality

When you need custom apparel for an event, a deadline, or a last-minute opportunity, turnaround time becomes the most important factor. Here's an honest look at what affects how long custom apparel takes — and how to get it fast without cutting corners on quality.

What affects turnaround time

Several factors determine how quickly your order can be produced:

  • Decoration method: DTF/DTG and simple screen prints are typically faster than complex multi-color screen jobs or high-stitch embroidery.
  • Order quantity: larger orders take longer to produce (though not always proportionally).
  • Design complexity: more colors, more print locations, and higher stitch counts add time.
  • Artwork readiness: a print-ready file speeds everything up; artwork that needs cleanup or digitizing adds a step.
  • Garment availability: in-stock blanks move faster than special-order items.

How to order fast (without regretting it)

  • Have your artwork ready. A clean, high-resolution file (vector or high-res PNG) is the single biggest time-saver. If your art needs work, get it sorted early.
  • Keep the design simple. Fewer colors and one print location produce faster.
  • Choose in-stock garments. Popular blanks in standard colors are quickest.
  • Confirm sizes upfront. Waiting on a size breakdown is a common delay.
  • Communicate your deadline early. The sooner we know, the better we can plan.

Fast doesn't have to mean lower quality

Speed and quality aren't opposites when the process is set up for it. The key is preparation: ready artwork, a decoration method suited to the timeline, and clear communication. Rushing a complex job risks mistakes — but a well-prepared order can move quickly and still look excellent.

Our approach to fast turnaround

Every order that is blank ships within 24 hours if ordered before 5 PM. The decorated orders will take time depending on the design and quantity of the order, typically taking 3 to 5 business days post proof-approval.

Have a deadline? Start your order and let us know your timeline — we'll tell you honestly what's achievable and get you sorted.
